Partnering with nonprofits for sustainable growth

Many nonprofits don't need more fundraising advice.
They need practical infrastructure that helps teams focus on the right opportunities, manage donor pipelines, strengthen board reporting, make better fundraising decisions, and build sustainable revenue strategies.
The Saltworks Fundraising Lab is an applied research, learning, and capacity-building initiative designed by the team at Saltworks Collective. We're investigating a potentially overlooked barrier to nonprofit sustainability: the gap between fundraising opportunity and fundraising execution.
Through the Saltworks Fundraising Lab, we're conducting interviews, collecting practitioner feedback, testing tools, and documenting recurring patterns related to fundraising execution and organizational capacity. The goal is to develop practical insights, frameworks, and tools that help nonprofits strengthen the infrastructure needed to support sustainable revenue growth.

Research suggests that most nonprofits rely heavily on one primary funding source and build their funding strategies around a natural match between their mission and the funders most likely to support it.
Yet many smaller organizations lack the systems and infrastructure needed to identify priorities, coordinate fundraising activity, and pursue those opportunities consistently.
We're exploring how practical fundraising infrastructure can help close that gap.
I'm currently exploring ways to make practical fundraising systems, dashboards, templates, and operational tools more accessible to nonprofit organizations.
Before building new resources, I want to better understand the challenges nonprofit organizations are currently facing, and which tools would be most valuable.
